FAQ: Abstract Submissions:
1) What must be in your abstract box?
Title in Bold, All Capital Letters
All authors with affiliations, city, state
Abstract needs to have these headings included: Purpose, Methods, Results, Conclusions
Supported by: if a funded project
No more than 25 lines total for everything required above, only use 12 font, Times New Roman font is required.
2) Can I submit more than one abstract as a first author?
Only one first author submission, with the exception being if one submitted a tutorial or symposium submission, in addition to the an original science abstract submission.
3) Can I submit more than one abstract as a second or higher author?
Yes, one can be on multiple abstracts as the second or higher author.
4) Can I submit an abstract a day late?
No, barring unforeseen and extenuating circumstances, the abstract submission deadline is adhered to firmly. In the rare instance that there is a technical problem or other extenuating circumstance, an e-mail will be sent to the SEACSM members and a statement posted at SEACSM.org informing of deadline extensions.
5) Can I submit an abstract that was presented at another meeting?
NO, all abstracts must be original works and unique to the SEACSM meeting.
6) Why does my abstract submission not work?
Very likely you failed to enter something in all of the required boxes. If you leave a required box empty, the form will not process!
7) Why submit an abstract for a student research award?
There is a cash award for the top three abstracts at each student level: undergraduate, Master’s, and doctorate. Plus the top graduate poster could get up to $1200 towards attending the 2018 National ACSM meeting in Minneapolis.
8) What is the time division between award levels, undergrad-Master's-doctorate?
You should enter in the division for which you completed the work. For instance, a first semester PhD student could compete in the Master’s division, if the work was just completed in the recent semester. However, you may not enter old data (eg., completed at a former training level) if you are more than two semesters beyond completion of the project and degree.
9) How do I know if I have answered all of the submission questions?
1. You will see a box that says "Submit" press this button and save the response message that you receive.
10) I am submitting a tutorial or symposium: Do I use this same submission page?
1). Yes, all of the same formating information and length of submission must be the same, except one does not need to include -Purpose, Methods, Results, Conclusions.
Welcome to the 2018 Abstract Submission Page.
This one page will be used to submit ALL abstracts for the 2018 SEACSM Meeting. It is very important that you read all of the directions and make sure that you select the correct drop down box for your submission. Please be sure that you test to see that your complete abstract (title, authors, affiliations, city, state, and the body of your abstract fits into a box with the following dimensions: 5.75 inches wide, 5 inches high. There is a limit of no more than 25 lines of text for the whole abstract, this includes the title, authors, affiiliations, city, state and the body of your abstract! Use Times or Times New Roman font (12 point).
An author may only submit one abstract as the lead author, but may be a co-author on as many papers as desired. Tutorials and Symposium do not count as a lead author submission.
Students are encouraged to submit their abstract for consideration as a SEACSM Student Research Award. All student submissions that are not selected as finalist for a research award will automatically be put into the poster or oral review group. DO NOT SUBMIT TWO abstracts.
