Assistant Professor, Exercise Science (Full-time, Tenure Track)
Appointment may include teaching various classes, out of the department of health and human performance, to undergraduate exercise science and physical education students, such as Exercise Testing and Prescription, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Exercise Leadership, and other classes, as assigned, consistent with the candidate’s expertise and qualifications. The successful candidate will engage in teaching, advising students, developing their own line of research, and assisting in supervising undergraduate research, professional development, and participate in department, school of education, and university committees.
Preference will be given to individuals with an earned doctorate, in Clinical Exercise Physiology, Exercise Physiology, and/or related field. Demonstration of the potential to secure external funds and evidence of the ability to integrate computer technology into instruction is highly desirable. Special consideration will be given to candidates who have one or more of the American College of Sports Medicine’s HFS, CES, and/or CEP certification(s). Evidence of scholarly activity, such as presentations and publications, is highly advantageous. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Research Interventionist - Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC
Job Description: This grant-funded position will conduct and administer a rehabilitative strength training program for older adults with knee osteoarthritis. Interaction with study participants is substantial, however additional administrative responsibilities such as policy and protocol development, adverse event management and Data and Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) reporting also will be required. Research project duration is approximately five years, contingent on annual renewal of funding.
Essential Functions:
• In compliance with study protocol, plans, develops, delivers, and manages an investigative strength training intervention for older adults with knee osteoarthritis. Collects facility-based data; writes and compiles protocols and procedures for inclusion in study operating manual. Exercises judgment to revise or adapt protocols within the context of participant capabilities.
• Monitors subject compliance with study protocol, prepares individual progress reports for participants, and supervises intervention scheduling of participants. Assists in developing, implementing, and administering contact protocol for follow-up with non-adherent study participants.
• Collects and compiles information on adverse events and submits reports to Principal Investigator; the Institutional Review Board; Data and Safety Monitoring Board; study sponsor; and/or other study stakeholders as necessary. Organizes, compiles, and enters intervention data into web-based data entry application(s) and performs data verification and “cleaning” functions.
• Assists Principal Investigator with data reduction and analysis as needed.
• May oversee work of other research intervention staff and/or student workers. Performs planning, organizing, or administrative functions in support of and necessary to the successful completion of the study protocol.
• Generally expected to compile, reduce, analyze, and present data at professional conferences or through peer-reviewed scientific journals
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

The Neuromuscular Research Laboratory (NMRL) within the Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh is accepting applications for a non-tenured Assistant Professor Faculty Position in Sports Medicine with a specialty in Exercise Physiology. This position will be based at Fort Bragg Army Post, Fort Bragg, NC.
The position is Department of Defense funded and will focus on research related to identifying physiological characteristics as potential contributors to injury and improving physiological performance of Soldiers. The research within the NMRL focuses on issues central to applied research in sports medicine and human performance. Research will include direct testing of VO2 max, lactate threshold, anaerobic power, and body composition, assisting with measuring biomechanical, strength, and flexibility of Soldiers, and interpretation of results.
A doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology/Sports Medicine or related field is preferred. Desired experience to conduct clinical research that is consistent with research agenda of NMRL is expected. Demonstrated competency of physiological testing, testing of an athletic population, and development of periodized training programs is critical. Evidence of scholarly activities, publications, and presentations is preferred.
Salary is commensurate with experience, faculty status within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Science, and all faculty benefits including health insurance, retirement benefits, and tuition discounts at the University of Pittsburgh for both self and family.

The Neuromuscular Research Laboratory (NMRL) within the Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh is accepting applications for a non-tenured Assistant Professor Faculty Position in Sports Medicine with a specialty in Exercise Physiology. This position will be based at the NMRL in Pittsburgh, PA.
The position is Department of Defense funded and will focus on research related to identifying physiological characteristics as potential contributors to injury and improving physiological performance of Soldiers. The research within the NMRL focuses on issues central to applied research in sports medicine and human performance. Research will include direct testing of VO2 max, lactate threshold, anaerobic power, and body composition, and interpretation of results.
A doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology/Sports Medicine or related field is preferred. Desired experience to conduct clinical research that is consistent with research agenda of NMRL is expected. Demonstrated competency of physiological testing, testing of an athletic population, and development of periodized training programs is critical. Evidence of scholarly activities, publications, and presentations is preferred.
Salary is commensurate with experience and all benefits including health insurance, retirement benefits, and tuition discounts at the University of Pittsburgh for both self and family. The positions will be a 12 month appointment with option to renew contingent upon review and grant funding. The positions will hold the rank of Assistant Professor within the Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

Program Description:
Internship opportunities are available at the Duke Center for Living for motivated students majoring in health science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, human physiology, cardiac rehabilitation, or related fields.
Interns will become familiar with the function and operation of laboratory equipment used for subject testing and collection of physiological data while assisting in scheduling, data collection, data reduction, and data analysis for clinical trials investigating the effects of exercise and/or dietary interventions on cardiovascular and metabolic outcomes. Specifically, interns will take an active role in cardiopulmonary exercise stress testing, echocardiograms, muscle strength and physical function testing, vascular reactivity/stiffness testing, body composition analysis, as well as the supervision of exercise interventions in a variety of populations.

The Duke Diagnostic Lab is a multi-service outpatient diagnostic laboratory that provides non-invasive cardiac, pulmonary, and peripheral vascular assessments. Gain hands-on clinical experience with our diverse population and medical staffing.
